Focus areas

Core domains of discussion and research.

The International Biohacking Community covers several intersecting domains.

These headings are used to organize discussion, not to limit it.

Biohacking

Biohacking, as used here, refers to practical methods intended to improve physical or cognitive function.

Common topics include sleep and circadian strategies, training and recovery, nutrition, supplementation, and emerging tools for measurement and feedback.

Grinding (implants and cybernetics)

Grinding focuses on body modification using technological devices intended to extend capability.

Common discussion themes include subdermal NFC/RFID systems, magnets, and wearable-to-implant transitions.

Life extension

Interventions intended to extend lifespan and healthspan.

Discussion ranges from preventive health to emerging longevity research.

DIY Biology

Citizen science and experimentation outside traditional institutions.

The International Biohacking Community treats biosafety, ethics, and legal compliance as non-negotiable.

Human Augmentation

Technologies that extend human capacities beyond typical biological limits.

This includes sensory augmentation, assistive devices, and interface design.

How to evaluate claims

When sharing a claim, it helps to document it in a way others can interrogate and replicate:

  1. State what was measured and the measurement method.

  2. Report what changed, including magnitude and timeframe.

  3. Note trade-offs, side effects, and confounders.

  4. Specify what evidence would change your mind.

Single-person results can be valuable.

They are not a substitute for clinical evidence.
